Michael Hopgood - Master Trainer |
Graduated: March 2006 Current Employer: Elizabeth Aquadome YMCA Michael was working in retail as a night filler but wanted a job that did more than just pay the bills. He decided to follow his passion and pursue a career in fitness… Michael has always been active in sport but it wasn't until he took part in the VET program in high school that his interest in becoming a Personal Trainer was aroused. Michael loved how the course offered a diverse range of learning techniques. "It was hands on and active, the feeling in the group was great, everyone was working towards the same goal". Since graduating Michael gained employment at the Elizabeth Aquadome YMCA and has since become Group Fitness Manager. Michael's advice to students - "Throw yourself into it, immerse yourself in everything the industry has to offer!" |

Brad Sexton- Master Trainer |
Graduated: September 2006 Current Employer: Urban Commandos – Fitness Squad Brad worked as a labourer, later turning his hand to landscaping. He owned his own business, however the long hours and physical strain on his body took its toll. Time for a new direction….Brad was helping his mates out in the gym and decided to turn his fitness interest into a career, getting paid to play! Brad enrolled with the Australian Institute of Fitness, completing his course in October 2005. He graduated with the achievement of "Most Outstanding Student" from his course, selected by the Coaching team. "Urban Commandos – Fitness Squad" was born, Brad's own mobile personal training business. He currently has 12 clients and is continuing to grow. Out in the community, Brad helps the Cystic Fibrosis Association, supplying them with bikes and cardio/strength programmes.

Danielle Crawford - Master Trainer |
Graduated: July 2006 Current Employer: In Shape Fitness, Elizabeth "…age may wrinkle the face but a lack of enthusiasm wrinkles the soul..." Dannielle was a stay at home mum of 2 little people. Wanting to do something for herself and maintain a healthy lifestyle she set her sites on a career in fitness. Enrolling with The Australian Institute of Fitness, Dannielle had a desire to help new mums, getting them back into shape and feeling good about themselves. Dannielle enjoyed the course, "Disco Pete and Darren were fantastic, entertaining and made leaning fun. The whole coaching team were great". Danielle's biggest achievement since graduating has been to break into the industry. Within 3 months she became the Assistant Manager of In Shape Fitness, Elizabeth. An awesome achievement! Her advise to students is to "find a mentor, absorb everything and always further your learning". |

Ryan Hillier - Master Trainer |
Graduated: October 2006 Current Employer: Fitness First After Ryan's father passed he wanted to hide and stay behind the scenes. He became a chef, working in this trade for 10 years, enduring the long hours and shift work. He became bored and decided to get into fitness and get out there! With Ryan's sporty background, playing football and an interest in rehabilitation the decision was right to move forward and be part of this growing industry. He enrolled with The Australian Institute of Fitness, "although I didn't get into the games, the information was solid and has given me a great foundation". Ryan now runs his own Personal Training business with Fitness First at Payneham. Success is his, running on average 40-50 sessions per week. His advice to students, "put the work in and just do it. It's all in or nothing, don't be scared!". Ryan's long term goal is to work with special needs children, enhancing their lives and putting a smile on their faces. |
