The Benefits of a Balanced Diet During Winter
Keep exercising and eating well throughout the winter season, and you’ll reap so many benefits.
If winter nutrition and exercising are subjects you enjoy, a career in the fitness industry could be perfect for you, and searching for personal training courses online is a good option if you’re not financially able to study full-time, or if you live in rural Australia.
In winter it’s too easy to reach for comfort foods when you’re cold and the weather is getting you down. What’s more, when you’re covered up in layers of clothes, it’s easy to forget what you look like underneath.
Nutritionist Matt O’Neill from MetabolicJumpstart.com says, “With a high risk of comfort eating, it’s even more important to pay attention to your diet.
“You can easily increase the risk of overshooting your calorie intake, and while your metabolism may increase in the winter due to shivering, the increase is likely to be cancelled out by your increased food intake.”
The benefits of continuing to eat well over winter include, having extra confidence, not feeling sluggish and lacking in energy, and getting a head start on your nutrition for the warmer months.
Stay away from eating a lot of white carbs, big meals and processed foods. You can eat warming meals without having to feel bloated all the time. Foods like soup, stew, casseroles, and stir frys are great. If you like roast dinners, just be careful how much butter and oil you use. The key is hearty and healthy!
