Are New Year's resolutions being met?

The new year is an important time for Personal Trainers says Daniel Hoy. So are you taking full advantage of the opportunities it brings?

The start of a new year is a time many people kick off their new fitness regimes. A new year can provide a clean slate, but as with many New Year’s resolutions, fitness ones rarely last.

That is where you as a good Personal Trainer can help; part of what you add to a person’s workout plan is motivation.

If you’re good at your job you can help people to stick to their programs, and to achieve their goals. It's a great chance to promote and build your business.

Try setting up a promotion around new year’s resolutions – it might be a boot camp, or a special price, but whatever it is, it's the month to use not only your training skills, but also those business skills.

So once you have new customers, how to you keep them?

That's easy to answer. You keep them by firstly being a great Personal Trainer, and secondly by offering great service.

Service doesn't just mean looking after their fitness and weight loss needs. It means checking up on them if they've been injured, giving them a call if they've missed a few sessions, generally going above and beyond. Really utilising all the skills you learnt during your time at Australian Institute of Fitness as well as the ones you’ve learnt since being in the fitness industry.

Good luck, and don’t let the new year pass you by!
