Amber Bradley

Amber Bradley is a successful sportswoman with a number of international rowing medals under her belt. Now, since completing a Master Trainer qualification at the Australian Institute of Fitness she is able to help others achieve their health and fitness goals.

Olympic Bronze Medallist and World Rowing Champion Amber Bradley saw an Australian Institute of Fitness advert in a local Perth newspaper for the Master Trainer course, and thought it looked like an exciting start to a new career.

“I wasn’t sure exactly what I was getting myself into when I signed up at the Australian Institute of Fitness, but surely I would be well suited to a job where I got to keep fit and healthy while inspiring others to do the same?”

After the Beijing Games of 2008, Amber was eager to get more job security as rowing gave her fantastic experiences, however it didn’t pay the bills. She tried her hand in sports journalism and PR, but was desperate to have a more active career.

“The Institute absolutely changed my life. Signing up to do the course was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!” Amber was amazed at the professionalism of the team, and said the coaches were “an encyclopaedia of knowledge”. She was fascinated by the stories they shared, and enjoyed studying in such a vibrant atmosphere.“The Institute really seems to attract fantastic and inspiring people. I made some good friends there, and we were able to get very good results thanks to the coaches’ helpful advice and understanding.

“If you’re thinking about it a career in fitness, think no more. As the Nike saying goes, ‘Just do it’.”

Working in the fitness industry is a thoroughly rewarding career path, for both the Personal Trainer and the clients they help.

When I first completed the course I got a job as a Personal Trainer, and have since progressed to Business Manager for a boutique personal training centre in Perth.

It has been a richly rewarding experience to work in such a positive industry. I’m so thrilled I have finally stumbled upon a career that I absolutely love, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life helping other people achieve their health and fitness goals.”

Glen Roth

After spending eight years working for the top radio shows and networks across the country,
Glen Roth was desperate to get back into the fitness industry – a place where he’d been before
the bright lights of radio steered him away.

Glen worked for various radio stations in Newcastle, NSW as a Breakfast Producer and On-Air
Announcer, before relocating to Sydney. Then his work took him to Queensland and Adelaide,
and various parts of New South Wales, until he ended up as Executive Producer of Austereo’s
92.9 Breakfast Show in Perth.

Even though Glen enjoyed his work, he was desperate to get back into fitness again. He said,
“After spending so many years working on breakfast shows and getting up at 4am, I was fed up
of feeling unfit.” Glen also knew his experience in media and marketing would come in handy
as a personal trainer.

So he signed up for the Institute’s Master Trainer Program. “The Australian Institute of Fitness
has a great reputation and attracts the best coaches”, said Glen. “I believed it was the only
way to learn.

The course is detailed, and carefully structured by the coaches, but it’s their personal stories
and anecdotes that taught me the most. Hearing how they handled real-life experiences was
the defining factor for me that made the Institute the best choice.”

Since completing the program, Glen has been able to lead Western Australia’s fastest growing
health and fitness company – the Universal Health Network – providing a large range of health
services and fitness training. “I’m also a regular fitness expert on Perth radio and provide
interviews to various WA newspapers.

“In short, the Institute gave me a great, positive outlook – more energy and more work
satisfaction. I think that’s what everyone wants in life.”
